Setting: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]History: Yata’s story starts out when he’s a teenager, somewhere around 16 or 17. He and his best friend Saruhiko Fushimi (pay attention to this guy, he ends up being important throughout) were delinquent high school students. One day, after school they were loitering around on the street and Yata demonstrated some truly bad decision when he threw a glass bottle of soda at some supposedly innocent bystanders. Except that the person he threw the soda bottle at was Mikoto Suoh (another important person), the Red King and leader of Homra. He proceeded to show off the power of his aura and impressed both teenagers to the point where they ended up joining the Red Clan.
For Yata, the sudden introduction to a tightly knit group of people who were practically superheroes was a dream come true. Mikoto gave him the power to fight against ‘bad guys’, gangsters who threatened innocent people and he embraced the lifestyle of Homra with intense enthusiasm. He also developed some pretty intense hero worship for Mikoto, and spent a lot of his time in Homra hanging out with the King. For Misaki there was pride to be found, even if he was technically part of a gang that got into some pretty dangerous situations. He had people to watch his back and it was a family and he couldn’t imagine anyone betraying that sort of bond.
That’s why, when Fushimi declared that he had joined the Scepter 4 (the Blue Clan), and also Homra’s biggest rivals, Yata was understandably angry and confused by this news. He couldn’t understand the concept that his best friend didn’t feel like he belonged at Homra. Fushimi declared that they were wasting their time as punks and gangsters and then after an argument he proceeded to burn away the Homra insignia on his shoulder. This move was the moment when their relationship shifted abruptly from friends to rivals. Neither could reconcile the choices of the other made. Yata couldn’t forgive someone who would throw away Homra and Fushimi wasn’t about to return. So they became enemies. More often than not, when their clans clashed with one another, they would end up fighting each other. It’s been mentioned by another member of Homra, Kusanagi Izumo, that Yata tended to get more worked up when Fushimi was involved.
But Yata was able to continue onwards despite that betrayal though, mostly by immersing himself more in Homra. His strength both with the Red Aura and in fighting was the third strongest in Homra, with the first and second positions being held by Mikoto and Kusanagi. On the way he picked up the nickname of Yatagarasu and became the vanguard of Homra, generally being at the head of the pack when they’d charge into a fight. He established strong bonds with everyone in Homra during the next year and a half. Things seemed to be going well, their Clan was strong and everyone was happy.
Until one of the founding members, Tatara Totsuka, was murdered in cold blood by the Colorless King. Yata and Kusanagi were the ones to find him, though the culprit had already escaped by the time they had arrived. Yata himself was the one who held Totsuka when he died. This experience left something of a lasting mark on Yata, since this is the first time anyone in Homra had been killed. It was thanks to the video Totsuka had been taking when he was shot that they knew who their target was. After that, Homra shifted their priorities towards getting revenge for their murdered comrade.
The series proper begins with Homra attacking and interrogating some foreign gangsters in hopes that they might have information on the Colorless King. This involved a lot of show destruction of walls and windows that was incredibly Not Subtle. And all that unsubtle destruction really accomplished was that they gained the attention of Scepter4 who decided they were really pretty much sick of Homra’s property damaging bullshit and they moved in to pick a fight. This resulted in a short conflict between Mikoto and the Blue King, Reisi Munakata and in the end Mikoto allowed himself to be arrested and taken away to Scepter4’s personal prison.
This left the rest of Homra to continue their search for the Colorless King, and not too long after Mikoto’s arrest they spotted someone they were pretty sure was the guy they were looking for. Isana Yashiro, a white haired high school student who matched the appearance of the killer. All of Homra came out in an attempt to catch Yashirou with Yata leading the charge. They almost caught him, until a new player entered the scene, Kuroh Yatogami, a vassal to the former Colorless King. Kuroh managed to put a firm smack down on Yata using his own aura powers before taking off with Yashirou. Yata was, naturally, not pleased with the situation.
He ended up being goaded into another fight with Kuroh, though once again he was proven to be outmatched by the other clansman and quickly defeated. Yata’s style of fighting didn’t lend itself well to a conflict with the Colorless clansman. With their shot at Yashiro blown, Homra regrouped and tried to figure out its next move. When he was told of a lead at Ashinaka High School, he and another member of Homra headed out there to try and find Yashiro and bring him to justice. Unfortunately the only thing they found at the high school were dead ends and an encounter with Fushimi. (Remember that guy? Yeah they still don’t get along very well.) This resulted in yet another fight where the two former best friends hashed out their usual conflicts with one another. Eventually it was broken up by another member of Scepter4, Seri Awashima, after Fushimi managed to stab Yata in the arm with one of his throwing knives. After asking around the school a little more, they figured out that Yashiro wasn’t there and gave up their search. They retreated back to Homra to recover from Fushimi-inflicted injuries and Yata didn’t play much of a part for a few episodes.
He comes back into play when Mikoto breaks out of Scepter4’s prison and announces that the Colorless King is… in Ashinaka High School. Yata immediately retconned everything he had said about the killer not being there. Because if Mikoto said so then it had to be true! Homra then launched a full scale assault on the high school, taking it over in their attempt to make sure they could find the murderer without giving him a chance to escape. Yata helped to patrol the area and make sure no students escaped from their investigation of the area and later that evening had a talk with Kusanagi about what was happening and also about how Scepter4 would be likely to attack. Afterwards Yata spent the evening preparing for the inevitable fight, except then he ended up in space with no idea how he got there!
Personality: Yata is at first impression: a loud, violent overly enthusiastic young man who does nothing by half measures. And a lot of that is totally accurate. More than anything, Yata is passionate about everything he does. When he’s fighting then he throws himself into it entirely and doesn’t have any qualms about striking or hurting another person if he considers them to be an enemy or in some manner to be bad guys. He’s absolutely loyal to Homra and puts it before everything else in his life. He’s spent so much time working towards it that almost all aspects. He has to doubts about the good that the organization does or about the people in it. He believes that Homra is irreproachable and has a tendency to lash out violently at anyone who suggests otherwise.
In general, Yata runs on a short fuse. When he doesn’t know what else to do he falls back on yelling until shit starts making sense again. He’s oddly sensitive to criticism and will often bully or yell at the people around him when they start to tease him for various reasons. Comments about his size (which is short) gets a violent reaction and a lot of yelling. He’s definitely the sort of personality who can dish out teasing but can’t take it. But despite that, Yata is an eager friend to those he’s made and enjoys spending time with the people in Homra. They are above everything else his dear comrades and even the ones he quarrels with are important enough for him to charge into battle for.
An important part of his personality is the fact that Yata is an incredible idealist. More than anything he believes that heroes still exist in the world and that they’ll be there to fight against injustice. This is why Homra, and by extension Mikoto Suoh, is so important to him. In Yata’s mind, Mikoto is the ultimate hero. He saved Yata and gave him the strength to fight and be a hero himself. He has more than a small amount of Hero Worship for the man and it’s a bull minded admiration that has him picking a fight with anyone who might even suggest that he is less than flawless. This is why he has such an issue with Fushimi and his abandonment of Homra. He cannot understand why his former friend wouldn’t be proud of what they did as a part of the red clan. Yata
needs Homra, and would do anything for the people within it. He also has trouble understanding his former friend, though he is capable of acknowledging that he still treasures the memories from when Fushimi had been a part of Homra. While they aren’t capable of getting along he can still regard things before their break up fondly.
He also has an oddly shy side to him that allows Yata to get flustered incredibly easy. Women, anyone female really, puts him on edge and makes him nervous. He respects girls and doesn’t want anyone to treat them badly, even striking his one of his own friends when they scared some schoolgirls with their rough behavior. Yata is a bit of a contradiction with his behavior, he’s stubborn yet obedient to his superiors, he’s shy around women but willing to fight them when necessary
Abilities, Weaknesses and Power Limitations:Abilities-
-Red Aura: Yata can draw on the Red Aura granted to him by Mikoto for various purposes, pretty much all of them offensive. The flames of the Red Clan are by nature destructive, and Yata uses them to augment his fighting and strength. He can use various levels of aura, from using it to heat up metal to red hot temperatures to summoning a giant tornado of red aura to attack with.
-Increased Strength/Sturdiness: Yata is capable of taking a lot of damage without slowing down, though a lot of this seems dependent on his own ability to see an attack coming. He’s been able to fall from a decent height without showing any pain.
-Street fighting: Yata has a fairly versatile fighting style that involves a lot of punching and kicking and launching himself at his opponents with his skateboard. He relies on staying fast and mobile to put his opponents off their guard so he can strike.
Weaknesses:
-Yata is still relatively vulnerable to harm, he can take a beating but can still be stabbed, shot or otherwise injured. A lot of his ability to withstand injury comes from being able to see it coming, unexpected attacks can very easily take him down.
-Impulsive: Yata doesn’t look before he leaps and this tends to get him in trouble. He’ll defy orders from people in a superior position, ignore power differences in a fight and many other things because he can’t help but do the first thing that comes to mind. This allows to him to react quickly but it means he can be easily fooled by someone who’s a step or two ahead of him.
-Unskilled fighting: Yata’s fighting style is good against average opponents where he can catch them off guard and take them down. When he’s put against someone who’s been formally trained (like Kuroh) he can be easily outmatched by them. It’s one thing to take a baseball bat to some gangster’s head, another to try the same move against who’s a trained and incredibly skilled swordsman.
Limitations:
If his power needs to be limited on the ship, it’d be easiest to limit his aura power to only small demonstrations. None of that red aura tornado stuff since it seems like a pretty bad idea to pull on a spaceship of all places. Or if necessary due to the lack of as King’s presence his Red Aura can be nerfed completely. It’s totally up to the mods!

Appearance: Yata is a short skinny young man in his late teens. He’s only 167 cm tall and he’s pretty much comprised of all lean muscle due to the amount of physical activity he does. He has short reddish brown hair that curls out into messy spikes, though he generally covers up his hair with a black beanie hat. He has amber eyes. Clothing wise he tends to dress in baggy everything. Loose dark green cargo shorts, a black tank top and a white sweatshirt seem to be his favored choice in apparel. He’s definitely not very creative about his wardrobe. He also has an elaborate red flame tattoo just above his collarbone that is a symbol of his membership to Homra and his role as a Red Clansman.

S A M P L E SLog Sample:Depending on who was asked about Homra, the reactions really varied. Some believed them to just be a bunch of young punks who were as bad as the gangsters they fought with. Others knew better, more importantly: Yata knew better. Anyone who talked trash about them was trash themselves. But that wasn’t really important to the matter at hand. Yata had been assigned to keep watch on a gang that had been getting more ambitious in the past month or so, at least according to Kusanagi’s sources. There had been rumors of drug running and more than a little harassment for local businesses. It wasn’t something Homra could stand by and let happen.
Yata sat on the roof of a warehouse with a pair of binoculars in hand, foot tapping against the metal roofing. He was glad to do work for Homra, they’d given him purpose and the strength to be a proper hero and he’d do anything he could to help. But stake out duty was the worst and he was ready to tear out his hair from boredom. He wanted to be doing something, anything that would let him be out and moving around. It didn’t matter that this was just as important as patrolling the neighborhood, it didn’t feel like he was doing anything!
“Hahhn… they should’ve sent Fatty out here,” He grumbled. “He would’a been happy sitting up here. He could spend the whole time stuffing his face-“ Yata’s complaints stopped dead as he heard a truck driving up to the warehouse he was watching. This could be what Kusanagi had warned him about, whatever they were expecting was big and could determine whether or not Homra directly interfered with them. “Finally…” He leaned forward and watched as the back of the truck was hauled open; what he saw made his breath hitch and he gritted his teeth.
There were girls in the back of the truck. All of them looking scared and definitely like they didn’t want to be there. This was bigger than drug running and exploiting protection. He pulled out his PDA and dialed up Kusanagi’s number. “This is Yata. I’ve seen enough, these assholes need to go down. They’re getting into trafficking people, not drugs.” He didn’t wait to hear what his second in command would say, he dropped the PDA where he stood and let his Red Aura flow through him before leaping down to the ground, ready to pick destroy the gangsters where they stood.
It was always better to fight than to just watch, heroes were the ones to act after all.
Comms Sample:[Voice;] [ The comm starts out with just voice, and it picks up Yata muttering as he tries to figure out the controls. It’s similar enough to a PDA, but different enough to frustrate him. ]
Where the hell is the video option? Stupid piece of-
[ He finally figures it out and video turns on to reveal Yata looking pretty annoyed, a scowl set on his lips as he regards it. ]
Finally! [ Sorry for the shouting, he… doesn’t really have volume control. At all. Investing in ear plugs could be a good idea. ] I don’t know what the fuck’s going on but I can’t be here! I’ve got shit going on at home and Homra needs me! If there’s anyone from Homra here, this is Yata. Get your asses out here and tell me what’s going on!
